Georgia Cuff

Georgia Cuff

The Georgia Cuff is one of our most iconic designs, with a history as bold as its form. Initially created by master silversmith Frank Patania Sr., this sterling silver cuff was a favorite of Georgia O’Keeffe, who acquired several of Frank’s pieces during her years in Santa Fe. Most notably, she wore the five-ridge version, often photographed in it by Alfred Stieglitz and immortalized on the cover of “Georgia O’Keeffe: A Life” by Roxana Robinson.

Named in her honor, the Georgia Cuff stands as a lasting tribute to both O’Keeffe’s artistic spirit and Frank Patania Sr.’s legacy. Today, it is still hand-fabricated using the very same tools Frank employed nearly a century ago. Each cuff bears the family’s signature mirror-polish finish, balancing sculptural strength with timeless elegance.

Available in three-ridge, five-ridge, and eight-ridge variations, the Georgia Cuff grows bolder with each version, offering a powerful yet wearable statement for collectors and admirers of American art alike.

  • Patania Jewelry Care Suggestions

Each piece of Legendary Patania Jewelry is carefully crafted with tradition and an enduring respect for the natural materials we use. Our pieces are crafted from sterling silver and feature hand-selected, high-quality stones, including genuine turquoise, coral, and other stunning gemstones. These materials are beautiful but delicate, and proper care is essential.

To ensure your jewelry lasts for generations, we recommend the following care practices:

    Avoid Harsh Conditions

Do not wear your jewelry while swimming, showering, or exercising.

Avoid exposure to lotions, perfumes, household cleaners, chlorine, and other harsh chemicals, as they can damage both the silver and the stones.

Remove jewelry before applying skincare products or cleaning.

    Natural Patina & Polishing

Over time, sterling silver naturally develops a patina, a soft darkening that we believe becomes a meaningful part of the piece’s story and character.

If you prefer to keep your silver bright and polished, we recommend using a jewelry polishing cloth about once a month, depending on the humidity of your environment.

    Proper Storage

Always store your jewelry in a dry, safe place when not in use.

Keep pieces separate from leather, as certain tanning agents in leather can cause tarnishing.

Store in a soft cloth pouch or a lined jewelry box to avoid scratching and moisture buildup.

    Deep Cleaning Instructions

For a deeper clean, especially in areas where dust and skin oils build up over time:

For silver jewelry with turquoise or other stones (excluding coral):

Mix warm water with a small amount of sudsy ammonia (available at most pharmacies).

Soak the piece for 10 minutes. This helps dissolve dirt and oils without harming the stones.

Rinse thoroughly with clean water and pat dry on a soft towel. Allow to air dry completely before storing.

    Important:

This method is not recommended for coral, which is porous and sensitive.

    For pieces containing coral:

Use a soft, wet toothbrush to remove dirt gently.

Avoid soaking. Rinse lightly and dry completely with a soft towel.

    Final Notes:

Jewelry is meant to be worn and loved and like anything well-loved, it will show signs of its journey. With mindful care, your Legendary Patania Jewelry will only grow more beautiful with time.
